Ever since I had my son, I started the Easter basket tradition. His very 1st Easter I had no idea what I was doing. Over the years I managed to come up with some easy and fun options for young kids. Including activities for the outdoors is a must since April is when the weather starts warming up for us. I also like to include something for them to read and something they need. These preschool Easter basket ideas works for boys and girls!
Jump Rope
This item was a specific request by my kiddo for Christmas one year but I didn’t want him jumping rope inside so I waited for the Easter bunny to deliver it. The one I purchased is no longer available but these two are great options! (I have this one coming for my daughter this year!)
Bubbles
Every year I include bubbles of some kind. With spring just around the corner it always feels like the perfect small, and easy outdoor activity. My personal favorite is a bubble gun. No spilled bubble solution and I don’t have to stand around blowing on a stick. Don’t forget the bubble solution.
Sidewalk Chalk
Another super simple and fun spring activity is sidewalk chalk. I take Easter as an opportunity to replenish our stock for the spring and summer.
Tegu Magnetic Blocks
These magnetic wood blocks are great to keep in a diaper bag (or purse) for the car or at restaurants. I purchased them on a whim during prime day and I am so glad I did!
Frisbee
Frisbees are so much fun! I had forgotten until we played with some friends at their house. Great way to get active outside!
Easter Books
You can never have too many books, so I always include one in each of the kids Easter baskets. They are usually Easter or spring themed books such as these three.
Card Games
Small to fit in an Easter basket and fun to play. What more do I need to say?
Card Holder
If you have any kid games that require them to hold their cards you need this handy tool.
Board Games
Educational board games are my favorite. They are fun and kids don’t even realize they are learning. Amazing. Alphabet bingo is one that we even take camping and when we travel. Mental Blox go is also portable!
Puzzles
There are so many benefits of puzzles for kids which is why they make a great Easter basket gift! These adorable travel size ones also will actually fit in those small Easter baskets.
Travel Game
Melissa and Doug make extremely high quality toys and these to games are no different I have both of these for my kids and they have survived for years. I love toys that I know will last!
Playdough
A staple in our house. Easter is another great opportunity to stock up on that dwindling supply of playdough.
Art Kit
You can never go wrong with a good craft or art kit for kids. I have yet to meet a child who doesn’t enjoy being creative!
Flashcards
Educational and fun! What more could you ask for?
Stuffed Animal
We have a mountain of stuffed animals of all kinds but the Jellycat brand is by far my absolute favorite. I think we have about 9 now.
Squishy Ball
These are just fun and kinda gross.
Now we get to the list of “something they need” items. I like to include one of these maybe not so fun items each year because well they do need them usually and why not try to make them fun.
Blue Light Glasses
If your kid spends any length of time on screens these are a must have to save their little eyes from eye strain.
Water Bottle
We always seem to need new water bottles. They are either lost into the unknown or broken. My top 2 favorite brands are Contigo and Yeti
Toothbrush
Every kid needs a new toothbrush.
Accessories
Last but not least accessories. Sunglasses, hats, hair bows, are all small items that fit nicely in a basket and kids always need them!
